Our Whisky Map Features
Rather than covering the maps in writing, we used minimal symbols and colours to illustrate the hierarchy of different distillery information and landscape features. We designed a range of concise colours to depict key elements of the earth and clear symbols to represent the status of the whisky distilleries.
It all started with our passion in discovering the hidden distilleries of Scotland
When we first fell in love with Scotch whiskies, we never imagined creating a map that captures all the distilleries within the Scottish Isles. We made the first map for ourselves and friends who are whisky enthusiasts like us. After receiving many encouraging responses we improved the design and later decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign to bring our visions to life. It was a huge success with support exceeding our initial goal by 500%. We thank each and every one of our backers in helping us achieving this dream.
The Islands of Scotland Collection
A collectable series of six prints capturing the most complete information of all closed, current and new distilleries within the Scottish Isles. This includes Islay, the Orkney Islands, Isles of Skye & Raasay, Isle of Jura, Isle of Mull and Isle of Arran. Our creation combines scientific scanning of the islands' complex landscapes with beautiful infographics that communicate distillery information with clarity. They are also a gorgeous addition to your home decoration.
From data research to printing, we were heavily involved in every step of the map-making process. This allowed us to maintain control over how best to put together all the data we collected and present them in the highest quality possible.
To us, this collection is much more than just a set of modern whisky maps. We believe they will offer a fantastic insight into your beloved distilleries and help you gain more knowledge on the different aspects of Scotch whiskies. We hope they will supplement the enjoyment of your favourite drams and enhance your drinking experiences.
Supporting the Community
We are proud to support the Ocean Cleanup as our chosen charity. They are committed to removing plastic pollution in the oceans and have developed technologies to extract plastic waste from the waters and intercept them in rivers before they reach the oceans. After testing prototypes in the North Sea they are currently deploying this full-scale.
Their ocean system consists of a floating barrier at the surface of the water in the oceanic gyres, that collects marine debris as the system is pushed by wind, waves and current, and slowed down by a sea anchor. Currently they are aiming to remove up to 50% of the debris in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch within the next 5 years.
