About Us

Hello! We are Tommy and Susan and we are whisky enthusiasts based in London. The AmberMatter was founded on our passion to build our knowledge and appreciation of Scotch. We are passionate to develop our insight of the history and geography behind this wonderful golden liquid.

Susan loves cask strength whiskies especially from Springbank, Mortlach and Laphroaig. She specialised in Architecture, Masterplanning & Cartography during her Master’s degree and spent two years researching and creating different maps and illustrations for her university thesis, think tanks and numerous NGOs. Her project focused on geographical referencing, electromagnetic geography study and spatial typology.

Since graduation she has worked for a leading architectural practice in London and later became a part time Artist in addition to her role as an Architect. She found her passion in single cask whiskies through the Scotch Malt Whisky Society and has been absolutely in love with it! Susan is also an artist at heart and is always looking for ways to channel her creativity. Her passion and excitement for creativity engage lots of people. she has made many friends and remains eager to learn more about the Water of Life!

Tommy is a designer, craftsman and whisky lover all at the same time. Also trained in Architecture, he is enthusiastic about small-scale designs and now runs an artist studio making fine colour concrete sculptures that takes inspiration from still life paintings. 

He is passionate about single casks whiskies and is a regular member of the SMWS and the Soho Whisky Club. You can often find him with a few drams after work at the bar, enjoying the company of his friends. He also runs the @whiskylates Instagram account, documenting his whisky journey with Susan. He can be found mingling in various whisky clubs across London.
